Shoshi on Instagram and Twitter:

We first met Shoshi (aka Shoushi or Shoshipoyo) on the streets of Harajuku over five years ago. At that time, Shoshi – who prefers the pronoun they/them – was a Japanese high school student trying out different styles to find out who they were. In addition to their love of fashion, Shoshi was (and is) passionate about music. Shoshi counts Brooke Candy and Lady Gaga as two artists who’ve inspired them.

Over the years, we watched Shoshi’s style and interests evolve. After graduating from high school and enrolling in Tokyo’s most famous Fashion School, Bunka Fashion College, their unique style and personality began inspiring a younger generation of Harajuku kids, establishing Shoshi as an icon of the Japanese street fashion scene.

Recent years have seen Shoshi travel to Europe and America, collaborate with international creatives, work at one of Tokyo’s most influential boutiques (Dog Harajuku), graduate from Bunka Fashion College, and flirt with the launch of their own online select shop.

Shoshi’s future plans are far from clear, as Shoshi is always in motion and full of dreams and ambitions. What is clear is that wherever Shoshi goes from here, their time spent on the streets of Harajuku changed their life forever – for the better.

Follow Shoshi on Instagram if you’d like to keep up with their adventures. You can also ask them questions directly via their social media linked above.
